During this project students have the opportunity to prepare and teach one lesson either to their peers or a younger grade. This bundle includes a description of the project, a blank lesson plan template for students to complete, a rubric to grade with and a reflection sheet for students to complete after the project is complete.
Mastering multiplication facts is essential at this grade level! I send my students home with this log when we begin working with multiplication facts so that they spend time each night familiarizing/quizzing themselves. The template also encourages them to study with family or friends and includes the accountability of having a parent/guardian provide a signature.
My students worked through these STEM challenges in order to improve their group work skills, communication and creativity all while exploring STEM concepts. The materials I gave them to build their structures were popsicle sticks (large and small), binder clips, and clothespins - however these can be switched for any appropriate materials of your choice.
This study guide can be used to teach students the vocabulary words associated with parallel lines cut by a transversal, serve as a resource for your students to study from OR as a note taking outline.
This outline can be used by students to preview a particular lesson, guided by a graphic organizer. The different sections will help your students be thoughtful and purposeful about understanding the new concepts.
