This is a worksheet & lesson that I have used for two years now. During my first year of teaching my students really struggled to place non-perfect squares on a number line. Using this, 90% of my 130 students received a 70% or better on the final assessment.
This is a graphic organizer I created to help students remember how to do operations with rational numbers (integers, fractions, and decimals.) It has a space for the students to write the rule for each one, and then demonstrate their knowledge with an example.
In this activity, students sort triangles into three categories: "Missing Leg", "Missing Hypotenuse," or "Not a Right Triangle." After they record their responses, students take turns using the Pythagorean Theorem to solve for the missing side of the right triangles.
This worksheet asks students to describe different algebraic properties in their own words and to create their own example.
(Includes commutative, associative, identity, and distributive)
Students use this form to create a word problem and draw a picture that represents it. There is a space for the equation that matches the word problem.
This is a graphic organizer that asks the students to demonstrate how to add integers in three ways. I've had HUGE success with this and the students love it.
