I've been a teacher for a total of 9 years. The first 6 were spent teaching 1st grade. I taught Kindergarten for the next two years and I now teach 1st grade again. First grade is definitely my favorite!
If your class decor is Sea Life or under the sea, then I have a treat for you. I have created special Sea Life Behavior cards in the colors green (for good students), yellow (student has done one minor thing and misses 5 minutes of recess) and red (Student continues to do something wrong, misses all of recess). Just place close pins with student names on the side of each chart to help you see what kind of day each of your students is having. Great addition to any classroom!
I used these documents to keep track of weekly communication with parents. I placed these in my students' folders at the beginning of each week and used them to communicate with parents or vice versa. Parents really enjoyed them because if they had to write a note they didn't have to search for an extra sheet of paper, it was already right there in their child's folder. At then end of each week I kept these in my student files and turned them in to my principal at the conclusion of the school ye

Teaching style
I am a very hands - on type of teacher. I have always believed that the best way to learn something is to actually do it. So hands-on learning is very important. I also try to incorporate lots of movements into my lessons.
