This is a game format to hit the standard that deals with modeling addition and subtraction problems using base ten blocks. It includes directions for the game, along with problems, and a game mat. It can be done whole class, teams, or groups of three.

For students who struggle with number identification and writing, it is important to try to show them in a different format. Sometimes just writing the numbers vertically to show how numbers are a pattern sparks that learning. Attached is the lesson plan along with the number grids to teach the students. All you need is a student willing to learn and some colored pencils.
