This worksheet can be used to practice counting nickels and pennies. The math textbook series my first graders use combines nickels and pennies in the addition unit in conjunction with "count on" addition. I tried to use money in a variety of ways to engage students!
Intro to penny and nickel. This poem is pretty common for teaching coins. I am going to ask my students to color the coins the appropriate color and then in the chart practice writing the coin value and drawing a simplified picture (a 1 or a 5 in a circle).
Students will use different colored chips to illustrate addition equations and then write the number values in the boxes. Used for a beginning lesson in first grade on addition and creating addition equations.
Students pick a number, write it in the box, and practice representing it in different ways (equations, drawings, etc). Good practice and could work for any grade level.
