About the store
I've always loved creating my own worksheets and classroom learning materials since my first year as a teacher! I taught in the elementary classroom for 6 years, primarily in K and 1st grade. For two years I taught in a specialized program in a Title I environment for over-aged students (grades 4-5) and was successful in increasing student test scores and overall academic achievement. I left the public K12 system to focus on my son, which led to his ability to test out of Kinder and enter first grade a year early. Again, I created the majority of the materials I used during our year of homeschooling.

Experience

I've always loved creating my own worksheets and classroom learning materials since my first year as a teacher! I taught in the elementary classroom for 6 years, primarily in K and 1st grade. For two years I taught in a specialized program in a Title I environment for over-aged students (grades 4-5) and was successful in increasing student test scores and overall academic achievement. Teaching style

I consider myself to be a "reflective teacher". I look at the output of my students' work to determine whether or not I have conveyed the lesson to their understanding (within reason, of course). As much of a cliche the word "data" has become in education, I truly have an appreciation for the data gathered from different testing (i.e. end-of-the-unit tests and yes, even the dreaded standardized testing). I do believe studying the data helps me to narrow down the skills my students are missing, and determine where I need to re-teach or present information in another manner.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have been honored to serve as a judge of the Teacher of the Year contest for a wonderful school district for several years - witnessing truly amazing teaching and student engagement!

My own education history

I am an alt-cert teacher; I have studied [B.S.] Computer Science [M.Ed] Instructional Design.

Additional biographical information

I am the mother to an awesome 4th grader. Hobbies include reading (John Grisham and Nicholas Sparks are all-time favs!), scrapbooking, and apparently managing my son's after-school activity schedule! ;-)
