In our school, students take a timed test (5 minutes for 100 problems) each Friday. I really struggled to find the systematic approach to Addition and Subtraction Fact Fluency that I was looking for. I needed something that was gradual, very hands-on, and minimal prep. This is designed to work in 2-week cycles. Students spend the first week of each cycle mastering addition and subtraction facts for a given number (0-15). The following week is a review of that number and previously tested math

Students consider two numbers (one in standard form, one in expanded), then decide and determine whether to use > , < , or =. Then, they color the candy bucket according to a code. On the back, they use their findings to solve problems using a number line. This worksheet exercises several skills and reviews several standards.

Students analyze three numbers and look for the pattern, then color the window either yellow, green, purple or black depending on if the numbers go by 2s, 5s, or 10s (or no pattern). They extend their findings on the back. The color coding makes for quick grading.

This product allows students to practice several math skills. First, they determine if a list of numbers is in order (either least to greatest or greatest to least) or not in order. They graph their results, then add up how much their apples would cost. Finally, they practice even and odd.

This product can be used as a scoot or as task cards. Students calculate the value of one side of the equation, and use subtraction strategies to determine the missing number on the opposite side of the equation. This was designed to review math skills on September 19th (Talk Like a Pirate Day).

This math center game comes with several variations and an accountability sheet to ensure students are using their practice time productively.

These are the materials I will be using to introduce the concepts of arrays. The lesson incorporates higher level thinking (as a game) in the beginning, introduces important vocabulary, and then introduces key concepts as students construct their own mini-book on the topic of arrays.
