This file shows examples of decorated Ukranian Easter eggs. This is a great lesson for showing the use of lines and shapes. You can have students create their own designs on real boiled eggs, plastic Easter eggs, cardboard eggs (from JoAnn, Michaels, etc.), or paper.
Kindergarteners can select crayons based on color symbolism to create their designs, while older children can work the picture symbols into their designs, too.

I use this booklet after reading the book Chicken Soup with Rice by Maurice Sendak. The children can use the blank books to draw their own pictures to go along with the words on each page. The optional version with original line drawings is included for children who can not yet read to remind them of the occasion celebrated each month. I keep one copy with the drawings laminated for the students to reference. You can delete the images in the Publisher file from each month, print, and cut to get

This is a great storytelling activity that ties into an African theme. Included is the lesson plan for this activity and two files that contain the pictures used to tell this story.
King Lion's Gifts is a story about how African animals received their distinctive features. The pictures show each animal before it received it's feature and then after. The before photos were altered in PhotoShop - the rabbit has no ears, the elephant has no tusk or trunk, etc. I worked in graphic design before be

This group of cards teaches the parts of speech. Each part of speech has one card that defines the part of speech (ex. A preposition tells the position or relationship of one thing to something else.) and one card that explains the part of speech's origin (ex. The word preposition comes from the Latin word praeponene, which means "to place before.")
Each file contains the front and back of a half-page card. Print them out, cut around the borders, and then laminate them back-to-back for a 7.5"

You can punch a hole on the left side of the cards and insert a binder ring. Included are the vowels in bold to serve as a cover for each booklet. You end up with the materials for 6 booklet
