This lab is designed to teach students how to use equipment and introduce them to inquiry labs. Mini lessons on procedure writing and data table creation may be helpful but we use it as a formative assessment tool for those skills.

I have taught 7th and 8th grade science for 12 years.

Teaching style

My classroom is inquiry based. We use Interactive Notebooks and are in the process of transitioning to NGSS.

My own education history

I have a bachelors degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in science.

Additional biographical information

My father taught middle school Language Arts for 35 years and my brother teaches Industrial Arts. Teaching is sort of the family business. I have been teaching at Clark Intermediate in the Clovis Unified School District for the past 9 years as an 8th grade science teacher.
