This rubric categorizes student information writing into 12 sections and give an description of four levels of writing. The rubric is created with a 1-4 score system where a "3" is the goal. Students can use this rubric to self reflect as they write or at the end of the unit when the have completed publishing. I created this unit based on the Teacher's College Information Writing third grade unit.

Use this empty poster for kids to display information from a fair test scientific investigation. There are empty section for a title, question, materials, variables, data, and claims. It's on Tabloid size paper (11 x 17)

This is a common core aligned survey to help kids think about the major third grade goals. Walk the kids through drawing/writing out samples of each skill then with partners, have them write a symbol to show what they know well, and what they need to work on.
