I have taught English, Language Arts, Creative Writing, Journalism, and Photojournalism for thirteen years at the middle school, high school, and college levels. I advised award-winning newspaper and yearbook programs at four high school. I also have mentored and trained first-year teachers, and represented teachers as a building representative for the NEA/VEA. Experience

Teaching style

I develop lesson plans that encompass multiple modes of learning and address the learning styles of a wide variety of students. And I try to be as entertaining and engaging as possible. Sometimes I succeed.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Before becoming a teacher, I worked in print media and won numerous awards from the Virginia Press Association for writing, design, and photography. I was chosen as a Virginia Governor's School Teacher and was selected as the Most Unique Male Teacher at one of the largest high schools in Virginia.

My own education history

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Radford University, a Masters of Arts in English Education from Virginia Tech, and a Juris Doctor from George Mason University's School of Law.
