This writing sheet corresponds with Pete the Cat's I Love My White Shoes. Students will fill in the blanks with the item of choice Pete stepped in, the color the shoes turned, and complete the sentence.

This is a quick and easy way to assess kindergarten students individually at the beginning of the year. Use this writing sheet to go along with a Community Helpers or All About Me unit. Students will fill in the blank and can also write a corresponding sentence about what the community helper does or why he/she wants to do the career he/she chose. Students can draw a picture of the helper in the box. For an independent writing activity, provide students with Community Helper picture and word cards on a word wall or previously created thinking map.

This is a letter to send home with parents when students are ready to begin the Accelerated Reader program. The letter can be edited to fit your class reward system, grade level or other needs. The letter provides useful tips and ideas for parents when reading with their child at home. A recording sheet is also provided which includes the book title, level, test date, score, and a section for parents to initial.

This is a cute and fun activity to do with student's on their first day of kindergarten! To do handprints, cover the student's hand using paint or a stamp pad. Add both handprints to the center of the paper. (Optional, add red hearts to the center of each handprint.) Add the date, and allow the students to write their first names. This craft can be used alone, or can be used to go along with Audrey Penn's book, The Kissing Hand.

Give the students a sheet and have him/her draw a picture of themselves on the first day of school. Tip: Provide an example, because some students aren't sure how to draw a picture of themselves!

This activity was created as a beginning sound literacy center activity to go along with Peter H. Reynold's book, The Dot. For a Write the Room activity, simply print and cut out the cards and hang around the classroom. The students will determine the beginning sound of each picture and record the entire word. For other literacy centers, print, cut out, and laminate each card. The students will write the beginning sound on the card using a dry erase marker.

Celebrate Earth Day by having your students write about a way they can help to make a difference. I pledge to save the trees by using less copies, SO, there's 2 per page for this set! Have the students write about their pledge, then have the students color/paint the earth printable and glue them both to one piece of construction of paper to make a cute Earth Day hallway display.

Who doesn't love teaching all things FALL?! This writing sheet is useful all season long! Use this to have students write about their favorite thing about fall or a special experience they have had in the fall season. Students can also illustrate their writing in the box.
