This is a cute and fun activity to do with student's on their first day of kindergarten! To do handprints, cover the student's hand using paint or a stamp pad. Add both handprints to the center of the paper. (Optional, add red hearts to the center of each handprint.) Add the date, and allow the students to write their first names. This craft can be used alone, or can be used to go along with Audrey Penn's book, The Kissing Hand.

Simply print, and done!...A quick and easy activity for that chaotic and busy first day of kindergarten! This is cute keepsake for parents and a great way to display your students' first day of kindergarten self portraits. Give the students a sheet and have him/her draw a picture of themselves on the first day of school. Tip: Provide an example, because some students aren't sure how to draw a picture of themselves!

This activity was created as a beginning sound literacy center activity to go along with Peter H. Reynold's book, The Dot. For a Write the Room activity, simply print and cut out the cards and hang around the classroom. The students will determine the beginning sound of each picture and record the entire word. For other literacy centers, print, cut out, and laminate each card. The students will write the beginning sound on the card using a dry erase marker.
