This powerpoint is meant to follow Tarbuck and Lutgens Earth - An Introduction to Physical Geology textbook. This powerpoint covers historical perspectives of geology, basics of geologic time, origin of the earth, and basic geologic terms.
These guided notes go through the periodic table trends of atomic radius, ionic radius, ionization energy, and electronegativity. This should be paired with a coloring activity for the periodic table to identify atomic number, metals, nonmetals, metalloids, valence electrons and other properties of the elements.
Students compare and discuss the progression of historic models of the atom from Thomsom, Rutherford, Bohr, and the Quantum model by filling in guided notes and then drawing the corresponding model of the atom.
