It all started the day I was born. I was so blessed to have a beautiful older sister who happened to be born with Down Syndrome. I have learned so much from her and in using my creativity to help her sweet stubborn self learn and comply I decided to go into teaching! Teaching style

I love observing my students and learning from them. I love to take where they are and improve upon it step by step. Working in special education requires that flexibility. No two students learn the same or are on the same level. They all have different strengths, weaknesses and needs. I love to be creative and find what works for them. If I was to narrow what I do down to one phrase it would be "positive reinforcement!"

Awards & shining teacher moments

I've been asked on many occasions to speak on Autism spectrum disorders, behavior, classroom management and other areas of teaching both in large scale and small scale settings. I currently train teachers in PMT which is a de-escalation and protective holding program. I love to teach with stories from my own classroom.
