This unit goes well with Reading Street curriculum for Kindergarten but can be used with any informational text about nature, flowers, plants, etc. It includes CC aligned activities and games for literacy, writing, as well as black-line and color science books, flash cards, high-frequency word work and assessments, phonics /s/, phonemic awareness initial and ending /s/, story setting, graphic organizers. Because I use a lot of autumn graphics, this unit is best used in the Fall of the year.

This reading unit goes well with Reading Street Unit 2 Week 1. It accompanies the story "Flowers" by Vijaya Khisty Bodach but can be used with other books or lessons on flowers. Included are the concepts: compare and contrast, phonics /a/, labels, plural nouns, vocabulary - seeds, buds, bloom, fruits, stem, petals, pink, orange, purple, initial and medial /a/, high-frequency words - have, is, and listening for sequence. It also includes science activities and books for flowers and social studies

This is a mini-unit that uses the book "The Bugliest Bug" by Carol Diggory Shields. It contains a lesson plan and all the required pieces (except a pocket chart). It contains a full literacy lesson using the book with story strips, vocabulary cards, and debrief questions following Bloom's Taxonomy. Also included are a math activity (addition and graphing), math game (number recognition and addition), /b/ phonics activities, and writing activities. I have also included a list of CCSS standards

This file includes 8 half-page, generic certificates for use in any classroom! They are colorful and fun, in both girl and boy appropriate themes. I keep them in the pocket of my teacher planner so that I always have a reward handy at a moment's notice. Please note: this file is NOT editable! This game is for working with early level inferencing strategies. Picture cards and clue cards are matched together. There is also a game board included as an additional resource. Fun spring them with lots of flowers and bees. Fun and engaging, this game is excellent for reinforcing and assessing mastery of using inferences in reading.

This game is a fun way to work on non-sense word fluency for DIBELS practice. There are both real and not real word cards as well as blank cards so you can add to the game. It works great in small groups as an informal assessment or in a literacy center. Enjoy! Applejackstr

This game board can be used for any vocabulary game you choose. I recommend laminating it and writing words on it with a sharpie. You can remove them with polish remover and use the game board again and again!

This game is a fun and engaging way to reinforce and assess mastery of initial sounds /a/, /d/, /c/, /f/, /p/. The game format follows Words Their Way word work. Each student draws a picture card, names the picture, and then moves his or her game piece to the next correct letter for the matching initial sound.
