I am currently in my 22nd year in education. I have taught at all levels including 5th-8th grades, Algebra 1, and Geometry. I was a district level math coach for 5 years and am now a high school Assistant Principal.

8th Grade Math MAFS Benchmark Scales
Included here are benchmark scales for each 8th Grade Florida Math Standard (MAFS). The scales break the standards into four levels which coincides with the Marzano Proficiency Scales. Each level of the scale could be used as a learning goal.
I also included an editable student tracking form where students can track their progress by standard.

Filling a Room With Peas
This lesson plan gets students up and moving as they try to determine how many peas it will take to fill their classroom. It is a full lesson plan which includes guiding questions and a student response sheet. It is intended to encourage students to figure out the formula for volume of a rectangular prism through their own investigations.
It could also be used as a center activity.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. I also have a certification in grades K-5 and Math Grades 6-12. I also just earned my Doctorate of Education degree in Educational Leadership in Higher Education.
