Teaching style

I prefer to be vibrant and use informal approaches with my program. My students are my peers and I only pull authoritative cards out when necessary. My STEAM room is designed around student accessibility and curiosity. I am Responsive Classroom trained and support the use of growth mindset in education through interdisciplinary lessons and inquiry-based challenges.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have presented 16 "Best Practice" lectures at the Art Education Association conferences on the Virginia state and National Level on Video Game Design, STEAM Education, and Digital Art Education in the last decade. I recieved a $1350 grant to bring new robotics into my program this spring, aimed at inclusivity for all ages and needs to build foundational experiences in computer science! In March, I'll be presenting "Establishing Maker Mindsets with Arts-Based STEAM" in Kentucky for the National Art Education Association Conference 2025.
