Linocut Printmaking
This lesson will teach your students about printmaking- past, present and future, It also includes a lesson and pictures of examples. A no fail lesson for grades 5-8 and can be modified for 9-12 a number of ways. One way is to have them do their pet, family member or themselves instead of the abstract lesson.

This unit explains what a clay rattle is, the history behind them, and gives examples. It also shows students how to make the rattles in one of two ways.
It gives definitions and terms and also strict guidelines on how to use clay and glaze.

Surrealism with Dali & Magritte
This is the companion piece to my Surrealism Worksheet. It is a 71 slide PPT on Surrealism. It gives Dali background info and examples of his work, Magritte background info and examples of his work as well. I also give project examples of a surrealism collage and drawings. I mentioned the 6 Surrealism Techniques and also give examples of what each technique could look like. It provides deep discussion and is thought provoking.

I Have, Who Has ART Game!
This is a challenging art "matching" style game created for enrichment. This can be used as a part of a "end of year" review or even as a way to introduce topics. This game has 3 blanks, so you can modify as needed. This can be played with 2,3,4,5,6, or 10 players. I cut these out, laminated them and usually play with groups of 6, so each student gets 10 random cards. Whoever gets rid of their cards first is the winner, second is in second place...and so forth! Creative Cards
This is a 4 page instruction & brainstorming mini packet. I have students sketch out their rough draft on this and do the planning. I take this completed packet as a grade. I will include a student completed rough draft (coming soon) and have 3 completed card sets to show as examples. Our completed cards were 7inX5in, but you could do them any size. I had students do face cards plus the ACE, and had a discussion showing them actual playing cards prior, because a lot of my students did NOT

Teaching style
I absolutely LOVE having fun in my classroom! I love creating and planning lessons that keep my students engaged and constantly learning! My classroom is typically a loud, crazy mess where I facilitate learning and encourage students to THINK.
Awards & shining teacher moments
I have had 1 Gold Scholastic Art Medalist at the National Level.
I have had 3 Silver Scholastic Medalists at the National Level.
I’ve received 2 Education Foundation Innovative Teaching Grants in back to back years.
I had 25 students enter pieces into the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo this year (2017-2018), where 13 received 2nd place ribbons and 12 received 1st place ribbons.
My 8th grader last year (2022) won 45,000 from her colored pencil rodeo art piece. I take pride in teaching colored pencils and all forms of art and watching students soar.
My students participate in YAM (Youth Art Month) each year!
My students participate in Jr. Vase (The UIL for Art) each year with great achievements.
This year 16 of my students earned Gold Medals and 1 earned Platinum, which is the State equivalent at the Jr. High level!
My own education history
I received my bachelor's degree in education and have my master's degree in curriculum and instruction.
Additional biographical information
I am a wife, mom, daughter, sister, friend, and teacher! I absolutely love being a teacher and couldn't imagine having any other career. I enjoy getting to know my students. I love creating, and it’s never too late to create! Better Create, Than Never!
