Students are instructed to describe the sequence of events, or "how-to", in building a snowman. A prewriting page is included to aid students in deciphering the order of events (I have found this especially useful since students in Florida do not have much prior experience with snow). A final writing sheet is attached to allow students to write in complete sentences and draw a descriptive picture of their understanding.

Spring Base Ten Addition Match Up allows students to work on their math skills in the area of place value using base ten blocks. No manipulatives necessary. Focuses on common core standard 1.NBT.B.2 and 1.NBT.C.4 for first grade.

This double bubble thinking map was created to compare and contrast the adventures and experiences of the characters Nugget and Fang from the book "Nugget and Fang" by Tammi Sauer.

Tackling First Grade Sight Words Bulletin Board is fully editable and was created to track student sight words up to 100. Document should be laminated and cut out. Picture is included for look of finished product. Tip: You can magnetize and write on footballs with dry erase markers to track more anonymously.
This lesson was created for a first grade class focusing on inventors, their inventions, and also integrating the arts. Students learn about inventors and what it means to invent. Students are then instructed to work in collaborative groups with recycled materials as well as other craft materials to "invent" something. Results may vary.
