Students will be able to use this activity along with the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade website. Students will get to research the year's current parade balloons. Students will draw the balloon and find the balloon's height and a fun fact about the balloon. As an extension, students can order their balloons from shortest to tallest. Students may also create their own version of a parade balloon.

Students understand the Commutative property as the "flip-flop" property. IF 3+ 5= 8 THEN 5+3=8. This activity allows students to think of their own commutative property problem and write each equation in a flip flop. Students may complete this as an individual take home activity or cut out the flip flops for a great Math BB!
This is a great hands-on center activity for place value with tens and ones. Students create the first letter of their name using base ten blocks. they then find the value of their initial. For extended activity, students may do their first & last initial or enrichment students may do their entire name.
