Watch this game played! This game builds number sense and was inspired by the math thinking of Number Talks. The fewer steps you use to take your given number down to 0, the higher your score! Dice are used to generate random numbers that students will use to break down that number. It's called Divisibility Dice, but are there ways you can use addition and multiplication to eventually make your number smaller? This is a dice game; dice are required (and are not included in this digital download)
10 Question Google Form Quiz on Dividing Decimals, with both Whole Number and Decimal Divisors, aligned to CCSS.5.NBT.B.7. Includes both problems such as 4.25÷5 & 4.25÷0.5.Contains problems with both tenths & hundredths. It grades itself! Assign with a link, by email, or within Google Classroom:This Google Form is automatically graded!Perfect for distance learning!Scores come back in ready-made graphs that highlight trouble areas! This is the student performance data we’ve been dreaming of!
Watch this game played! (previous version shown) 1. Set a 5 minute timer 2. Students roll 2 dice and use any operation to construct the given numbers. For the Repeat, they must get to that number a different way. 3. Now students work on the next column, rolling 3 dice to construct the numbers. Once the middle column is done, they roll 4 dice for the final column. There are many ways to get to 25. What if you could use any operation, but only have three numbers? Can you do it with a 2, 3, and a 5

The rules are simple: Roll 5 dice and keep 4. Use any of the operations to create a number sentence and record answer. Your next answer just needs to be larger than the last. How many times can you keep that going? (Hint: A lot, if you plan ahead). But watch out! You can only multiply once and divide once for each answer. How can you use addition and subtraction in there to achieve your goal? This game builds number sense and was inspired by the math thinking of Number Talks. This is a dice gam
This video lesson shows students how to multiply multi-digit numbers such as 312x48.Simple, non-distracting format with bright color, as I show the steps in multiple examples. The lesson is highly visual and simplified, but also aims to teach mathematical thinking so students can engage with these problems at a high level. -Daniel at the Assessment Toolbox www.assessmenttoolbox.com

Figuring out what a real life situation becomes as a mathematical expression is one of the most useful math skills for life! I use real objects moving in and out to show what addition, subtraction, multiplication and division look like as they happen. This skill of mentally creating an expression from a situation is not to be underestimated! Student who struggle in math often struggle with this concept, so this is a great area of focus that will help other areas too! This teaches on the 5th Grad
Long division gets trickier when you divide by a 2 digit number. This lesson video shows students how to perform long division with a 2 digit divisor, which is a useful reminder, re-teach lesson, additional explanation, or homework assignment. The lesson is highly visual and simplified, but also aims to teach mathematical thinking so students can engage with these problems at a high level. -Daniel at the Assessment Toolbox www.assessmenttoolbox.com
This video lesson shows how to sort three sided figures into categories to meet the 5th Grade Geometry standards 5.G.B.3 & 5.G.B.4. Lots of colorful shapes are shown and explained so students get to see many examples. The lesson is highly visual and simplified, but also aims to teach mathematical thinking so students can engage with these problems at a high level. -Daniel at the Assessment Toolbox www.assessmenttoolbox.com
This is a lesson video showing 3 ways to find the least common denominator (LCD), which you must do before adding and subtracting fractions. I show it three ways because sometimes reducing first is enough to make the denominators the same. If you just multiply denominators first, you will find a denominator, but maybe not the smallest one. The lesson is highly visual and simplified, but also aims to teach mathematical thinking so students can engage with these problems at a high level. -Daniel
You'll see two real world situations that can be shown on a coordinate plane, including how choices between two options can be charted and how you can navigate a city grid with a coordinate plane! Lots of color is used as I show and explain this concept with many examples. The lesson is highly visual and simplified, but also aims to teach mathematical thinking so students can engage with these problems at a high level. -Daniel at the Assessment Toolbox www.assessmenttoolbox.com
This video lesson shows students how to both identify and plot points on a coordinate plane for CCSS.5.G.A.1 Lots of color is used as I show and explain this concept with multiple examples. The lesson is highly visual and simplified, but also aims to teach mathematical thinking so students can engage with these problems at a high level. -Daniel at the Assessment Toolbox www.assessmenttoolbox.com
This video lesson explains the terms needed to work with the coordinate plane: axis, coordinate, origin and ordered pair, to meet Math standard CCSS.5.G.A.1 Lots of color is used as I show and explain this concept with many examples. The lesson is highly visual and simplified, but also aims to teach mathematical thinking so students can engage with these problems at a high level.
