I grew up in a small town in Minnesota and graduated from a rural high school with big dreams of becoming a doctor. I enrolled at Minnesota State University Moorhead and spent three years on a pre-med track, only to realize that path wasn’t the right fit for me. But one thing never changed: I knew I wanted to help people.
I shifted my focus to education, another powerful way to make a difference. My student teaching experience didn’t go as I hoped, and I found myself discouraged. Unsure of my next step, I accepted an office job with John Deere where I worked for a year. But the classroom kept calling, and eventually, I gave teaching a real chance.
That decision changed everything.
Since then, I’ve spent 13 years teaching in public schools, specializing in math, alternative education, and credit recovery. I’ve taught just about every subject at the high school level in a credit recovery classroom, and I’m passionate about helping students succeed, especially those who need a different kind of support. I also earned my M.Ed. from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota to deepen my practice and better serve my students.
Teaching is hard, but it’s worth it. I’m here to help make it a little easier for others through ready-to-use, meaningful resources.
