In that sense, I believe I can contribute valuable ideas, and I’m excited to discover new ones from fellow teachers. It’s a creative adventure that I’m genuinely passionate about! I don’t have experience selling educational materials, but I do have plenty of experience designing them. I was thrilled to discover this and other platforms where teachers and educators share their resources. I foster a dynamic and participatory environment where students feel encouraged to explore their creativity and develop critical thinking. I focus on helping them learn to truly observe—analyzing their surroundings with a critical eye and recognizing the shapes, structures, and concepts embedded in the reality around them. I use innovative methodologies, diverse educational resources, and strategies that integrate theory and practice, promoting art appreciation as a tool for personal and social transformation.

My own education history

I’m an architect, but my true calling has always been teaching. From the very beginning of my career, I’ve devoted myself to education with passion and purpose, firmly believing that knowledge comes alive when it’s shared. To strengthen my pedagogical practice, I completed a diploma in Higher Education Teaching, which allowed me to deepen my understanding of active methodologies and student-centered approaches. Later, I pursued a Master’s degree in Philosophy, where my research focused on the visibility of depth and the representation of spatial perception—topics that continue to shape my academic perspective. This research became the backbone of my teaching practice. In the classroom, I integrate these concepts through strategies that encourage critical observation, visual analysis, and a deeper understanding of the environment. My approach blends the technical precision of architecture with philosophical sensitivity, creating learning experiences that invite students to look beyond form, uncover hidden meanings in spatial configurations, and reflect on how we represent what we see. Each class is an opportunity for me to spark curiosity, nurture critical thinking, and guide students in developing a more conscious and aesthetic view of the world around them. Beyond academia, I’ve also explored design from a hands-on, artisanal perspective. For a time, I dedicated myself to creating decorative objects made of iron and aluminum—simple, elegant pieces that I personally fabricated using the tools and machinery of a metalworking workshop. It was an incredibly fulfilling experience that allowed me to connect creative thinking with manual craftsmanship, and to understand design as a complete process from concept to creation.

Additional biographical information

Throughout more than 20 years of experience in higher education, I have had the privilege of being part of the School of Visual Arts at the University of Zulia (Venezuela), where I have been able to combine my passion for teaching with a solid track record in many academic and administrative areas. My teaching work has focused on core subjects such as Representation Systems, Morphology, Venezuelan Art, and Aesthetics, fields that I consider essential for the comprehensive development of students in the artistic and design field. In the classroom, I have strived to create a dynamic and participatory learning environment where students feel motivated to explore their creativity and develop critical thinking. Through innovative methodologies and the use of diverse educational resources, I have guided my students in understanding complex concepts while fostering an appreciation for art in its many forms. My primary concern as an educator has been to help students truly learn how to “see”: to develop the ability to visually analyze their surroundings, to observe with a critical eye the configuration of the reality in which they are immersed, and to recognize the shapes, structures, and concepts embedded in their environment. Teaching them to look deeply is, for me, the first step toward building a stronger aesthetic and social awareness. My commitment to the institution has transcended the classroom, assuming various administrative roles that have allowed me to contribute to the academic and organizational development of the faculty. I had the honor of serving as Head of the Department of Visual Expression, where I participated in the planning and execution of projects that strengthened the education of our students. Likewise, as Academic Secretary of the Experimental Faculty of Art, I contributed to administrative and academic management, ensuring the efficiency and transparency of processes. As Director of the School of Visual Arts, I had the opportunity to lead a committed and passionate team, working on the implementation of strategies that promoted educational quality and innovation in art education. My role as Secretary of the Academic Council of the Experimental Faculty of Art allowed me to actively participate in crucial decisions for the future of our institution, ensuring compliance with the academic standards necessary to train competent professionals in the artistic field. Furthermore, I have served as the Academic Fellowship Coordinator, an experience that allowed me to connect even more closely with students and process their applications to work as a teaching assistant in practical classes. My career at the University of Zulia has been enriching and challenging, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunities I have had to impact the lives of my students and contribute to the growth of the academic community. I will continue to dedicate my efforts to training new generations of artists and professionals in other fields, convinced that education is key to cultural and social development.
