Improve your students vocabulary of words needed for writing an animal report and a detailed recipe (or similar procedure). There is a comprehensive slideshow warm up that has animated, illustrated slides for 100 key words. There are 50 quiz slides to assess your students understanding and work sheets with daily activities. My students love this approach to vocabulary and combined with a word wall they have started using the terms in their own writing without prompting.

These work sheets are designed to be done a little bit at a time to reinforce the meaning of 4 words either your or the student have chosen as focus words. By focusing on a smaller number of words students feel less intimidated by the idea of having to learn every single word every week. I use these as independent work during guided reading for groups I am not working with. They work really well with the Vocabulary Warm Up.
