I have been teaching for five years in my hometown district. My first "official" teaching position was 7th grade ELAR, where I received the Rookie Teacher of the Year award which is eligible to be awarded to 1st-3rd year teachers. Then, I went on to teach Touch System Data and return to my true passion: journalism and broadcast.
I became the co-adviser for the videoboard program and began a student produced yearbook and weekly YouTube broadcast with the 8th graders on my campus. I was nominated for campus Teacher of the Year during my second year of teaching and first year in this subject area. Continuing this for two more years, I received one more Teacher of the Year nomination, and was awarded Teacher of the Year for the 2023-2024 school year. Following that, I accepted the adviser position for the videoboard program and moved to the high school I graduated from.
I currently teach Principles of Art, AV, Digital Art and Animation, and AV Production I-IV.
