This activity is a short vowel e sort. I used this in a first grade classroom for a phonics lesson. I laminated the sorting worksheet and the pictures. Students worked in pairs and sorted the pictures. I made several tables of the same picture in order to make copying and laminating easier. You can definitely change this to work for students to complete independently.
I used this as the summative assessment of a phonics lesson in a first grade classroom. Students were instructed to write "W is for" and write what the letter w can stand for. For example: W is for watermelon. For my emerging writers, I had a sentence starter and they outlined the words, "W is for". Then, they drew a picture of their "w" word.
I used this in a first grade classroom, as a review of the letter v and the /v/ sound. Students wrote "V is for _______" and they wrote which ever "V" word we reviewed. You can definitely change it to fit the needs of your children! I left it as a word document so that you can change it to any letter A-Z, which ever one is the focus of your lesson! You can change to relate to any topic you wish! This is a great layout of what you can do to create an activity for your students to create their own
