Experience

I taught 10 through 12 grade Algebra 2, Transition to College Math, Geometry, and Algebraic Connections my first 3 years teaching. Then I taught 9th grade Algebra 1 and Geometry for 10 years. I am now teaching Computer Science but I still have a love of math.

Teaching style

This is my first year to use interactive notebooks, so I am FAR from and expert but the students really love them! My teaching style is really whatever works, I'm willing to try anything to help students learn whether that is a scavenger hunt activity, sorting game, hands on lesson, getting up and moving around. I am continually looking for new ways to make learning fun, interesting, relevant, connect to other subjects and interests of students, but most of all STICK!!

Awards & shining teacher moments

Teacher of the month is about the best award you can get in my book I was graced with this honor last year at my school. Very humbled because I work with some amazing educators.

My own education history

Graduated from Arkansas Tech University with a degree in Secondary Mathematics Education.

Additional biographical information

I am a single mom of 4 wonderful kiddos and a Gigi of 2. I love that both of my school age kids say that their favorite subject is math. It makes my heart smile. The little one will hopefully follow in these footsteps.
