Card sorts have a high engagement level for students. Benefits of card sorts: ⭐Hands on engagement ⭐Multiple entry points ⭐Quickly identify misconceptions ⭐Discuss similarities and differences ⭐Self-assessment ⭐Something different and fun In this activity, students will match 12 graphs (10 continuous graphs 2 discrete) with the corresponding domain and range written in both interval notation and set builder notation. This activity is great for algebra 1 students to supplement an interval or
Tired of hearing “when will I ever use this?” This activity shows students how ratios and proportions are used in the job of a Social Media Content Creator. The activity begins with a quick refresher on ratios and proportions, then a mini-lesson on the concepts of resolution and aspect ratios and how Social Media Content Creators use math in their jobs. The activity includes real-life applications of ratios and proportions. A PDF and Google slide version are included along with an answer key.
I’ve used this assignment for both a middle and high school math class, but it will work for all subjects. It’s an excellent way to give your students the freedom to choose what they want to share with you on a more personal level. Plus the comments section and rubric allow quick feedback and grading from the teacher. Great to use on the first day of school or for a first homework assignment.

These real number system vocabulary cards contain definitions and examples for natural numbers, whole numbers, integers, rational numbers, irrational numbers, and real numbers.
Use these cards with Kagan's quiz-quiz-trade structure to get students interacting with each other and moving around the room as they practice the definitions of the real number system.
This recourse is made specifically for classrooms that are set up for cooperative learning. Kagan Cooperative Learning by Dr. Spencer Kagan provides detailed explanations on how creating heterogeneous teams increase achievement levels. The colors allow for separate team identity, and the seat numbers/letters can be used during Kagan cooperative learning structures.
