Individual Behavior Chart

I use this behavior chart when I have a student that needs a direct behavior intervention. It provides immediate feedback for me and for the parent on a daily basis. I begin using this for two weeks straight and then start to decrease use. It is also a great way to collect data and formulate a behavior pattern for when and where the misbehavior is occurring to come up with a more concrete behavior plan.

Tattle Problem Solving

Tired of the tattling? These posters are a great way to get kids to think about the severity of their problems. I introduce each poster and as a class we brainstorm what kinds of problems can go in each category. When kids approach me to "tattle", they now say... "I have a green problem, etc..." They do not come to me if they have a pink or yellow problem. This is a great way to incorporate problem solving into your daily routine and eliminate needless tattling. Enjoy!!!

About the store

Experience

I have been a teacher for 21 years!! I have taught Middle School Reading and Language Arts, been a Reading Specialist after getting my Master's Degree in Reading, and currently back in Third Grade teaching what I consider one of the best ages to teach!!

Teaching style

I like to think of myself as old school with style. I like taking a traditional structured approach to some parts of our day. But I also love mixing it up. I enjoy cooperative learning groups and the engagement that brings the students. But I do also understand the need for individual work and how it plays into the confidence of a child.

Awards & shining teacher moments

During my first five years of teaching, I was working on my Master's Degree in Reading. A professor from my University decided to make me the subject of his research in the area of educational drama in the classroom. He spent a year in my classroom conducting research on the effects of educational drama used in the classroom. I am proud to say that I am part of this professor's research and a chapter or two in a book of his. =)

My own education history

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Illinois State University. I also have a Master's Degree in Reading from Illinois State University.

Additional biographical information

I live in Illinois. My husband Jeremy and I have two children, Jett currently in 8th grade and Harper will be entering 4th this year.
