Forty-two colorful, real-life word problems that can be solved using one of seven basic strategies: Guess & Check, Make a List, Make a Drawing or Diagram, Work Backwards, Use or Make a Table, Use Logic, and Look for a Pattern. These strategies will give students added skills when attacking word problems in the future. They are great for overheads or working in groups!
You can find separate lesson plans for each strategy on this website, but this includes them all.

A bingo game during which students compute simple one-step equations in order to see if the answer is on their bingo card. A great way to practice one-variable algebraic equations. It includes 30 different "bingo" cards with answers on them and 48 small "caller" cards that are used to call out simple equations. Also included is a blank "bingo" card in case you would like to make your own. I recommend laminating all of the cards so that they can be used over and over again.
A bingo game in which students must convert improper fractions into mixed numbers in order to see if they have that mixed number
on their bingo card. The lesson contains 30 different bingo cards with mixed numbers and 45 “calling cards” with improper fractions that can be laminated and used over and over.

A fraction game that requires students to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and simplify fractions in order to determine if their bingo card contains the correct answer. Includes 20 different bingo cards and 41 calling cards on which are a variety of fraction problems (with answers). Students must work out the problems and then reduce that answer to its simplest form. This is good to play in pairs so that partners can help each other. Meets Common Core Standards.
Students are dealt five cards that contain either fractions or decimals and place them face up from left to right in the order in which they were dealt. They continue to draw cards one at a time and replace their cards as needed until the first player has five cards in order from least to greatest.

In 2005, I earned my National Board Certification for K-6.
Teaching style
I prefer to create my own lesson plans, using real-life, hands-on activities when possible. I have tons of experience in curriculum mapping, differentiation, and accommodations for varied learning styles and special needs.
Awards & shining teacher moments
I have been nominated for teacher-of-the-year for 11 of my 12 years teaching..
My own education history
I went back to school in mid-life to become a teacher. I feel fortunate to have attended California State University in Dominguez Hills, California. CSUDH began as a college for training teachers for the Los Angeles School System, so the curriculum was specifically designed to give teachers a broad education across all subjects in addition to regular teacher instruction classes, incorporating the latest pedagogy and methods. I graduated Summa Cum Laude and was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award for my graduating class. In 2005 I earned my National Board Certification.
Additional biographical information
For two years, I wrote and reviewed questions developed at North Carolina State University that were to be used for standardized test questions throughout the state, meeting state curriculum goals and objectives..
