I have been teaching for 9 years in a title one school. After my first year of teaching I looped up with my Kindergarteners to first grade, which was a wonderful experience. I then went back to Kindergarten where I truely love it.

This is a game that students use clothespins to match uppercase with the correct lowercase letter. I print them on card stock and laminate them. You can put these in a station, if you do stations or you can put them in your word work area for Daily 5.
This activity includes cards that can be used in Kagan structures: Numbered Heads Together, Quiz Quiz Trade, and Fan-n-Pick; one student worksheet; lesson plan. I designed this activity as lesson one for this standard. It correlates with the common core standard K.OA.5.
Teacher Prep: Students need two dice and counters. Print
out mats and laminate.
Directions: Students pick the mats according to what game
they will play (one more or one less). Player one tosses the dice
and adds them up. The will then decide what number is one more
or one less and put a counter on that number. Players take turns
tossing dice and placing counters on game boards. The player
that has four counters in a row is the winner.
Jungle roll helps students master the common core standard K.CC.2, which is counting on. Students roll a die and write the number on the die. They then write the 3 numbers that follow.
These are the same setup as my Kindergarten reading strategy cards but are aligned to the 1st grade common core standards. The Reading Strategy Headers are a free download.
This game helps students master the common core math standards K.CC.6 and K.CC.7, which are identifing numbers that are greater, less than, or equal to and comparing numbers in written form.
The idea of this game is from the Sister's site. I adapted it to fit into this common core standard.
Partners take turns rolling two dice and adding the numbers. The person rolling then places a marker on the game board's number that corresponds to the sum. If a number is rolled and the corresponding space has one of each players pieces on it, the player who rolled can "bump" their opponent off and take control of the space. Once a player has control, they cannot be bumped.
Materials: number mat for each player or pairs, two cow counters or other counters for each player.
Directions:
1.The first player drops two counters onto the number mat.
2.The player tells their partner the two numbers and then has to tell a subtraction or addition number story. (I would only choose one)
3.The player then illustrates their number story and writes the equation to match. (Students need to understand the greatest number goes first.)
I have also included cow counters if
This is a bingo game that has lowercase letters on the bingo cards and students draw uppercase letter cards to match to the correct lowercase that is on their mat. My students love this story and enjoyed playing the game.
These are the headings I use in my kindergarten classroom. I have attached a picture to show how I display mine to give you an idea. If you like this, I have the strategy cards to go along with them for a nominal fee.
This game helps students master the common core math standard K.CC.5, which is count and tell ,"how many?". If you like this game check out my others at a low cost.
