I have been teaching since 1996. I have been in many grade levels and have seen the changes in Education in those years. I am the teacher others come to when they want ideas and resources. I like to share what I have in the hopes that we will reach our students.
I created this page to help my second graders read a simple weather forecast. The maps and charts in the newspaper can sometimes be overwhelming. (I did bring newspaper examples to show them, which they thought was cool)
The chart and questions allow them to use their skills to read and interpret the possible weather for the week.
When we first teach subtraction concepts, the symbols and words can sometimes be confusing.
I created this to show the words used--"take away" and later replaced the words with the "-" symbol as we progressed. The students can cross out the circles as they take away and arrive at their answer.
This page allows the children to observe soil with and without a hand lens. They have to really look and notice that soil is made up of many pieces and particles.
The questions at the bottom get their senses involved and allow them to experience soil. Would be great in an interactive notebook.
I love Interactive Notebooks!!! I love making charts for my students to put in their notebooks and write about their learning. This one is for the Rounding Large Numbers. They follow the directions to round to the correct place value on each flap.
Cut out the main piece, glue under the title box only and cut on the dotted lines to make the flaps.
Area and Perimeter word problems created to help students switch between the two formulas. The problems can be used as an assessment, or partner work if you like. I left space for them to draw and show their work.
This grid and set of numbers will help students sort their numbers in order from 0-20. It could be used as individual seat work or in a work station.
The number page allows you to copy two per sheet to save some paper.
This organizer is great for the students at the end of the unit on heat. We did all of these experiments on separate days in class, melted ice, popped popcorn and cooked an egg to show what happens when we heat foods.
The students then complete the cause/effect chart with pictures to show the changes they experienced. Of course, we had to sample all our foods when we finished!!! (Be sure to check for food allergies before allowing tasting)
Basic comprehension question for the first four chapters of the book. I separated them by chapter for ease of using the book for finding the answers. Included at the bottom is a bubble map activity.
I love Interactive Notebooks!!! I love making charts for my students to put in their notebooks and write about their learning. This one is for the Properties of Matter. They can write the definitions and illustrate, depending on your needs.
Cut out the main piece, glue under the title box only and cut on the dotted lines to make the flaps.
I love Interactive Notebooks!!! I love making charts for my students to put in their notebooks and write about their learning. This one is for the Forms of Energy. They can write the definitions and illustrate, depending on your needs.
Cut out the main piece, glue under the title box only and cut on the dotted lines to make the flaps.
This scavenger hunt can be used for a whole class activity after completing a unit on distinguishing between fiction and nonfiction texts. There are ten titles to sort and a recording sheet. You could also use it as a small group activity with or without guidance from you.

These cards are meant to be used for a sort of healthy/unhealthy choices. I had my students fold manilla paper in half and label the sides--good choices, bad choices. They cut out the sentences and glued them appropriately.
I created this chart for the end of our unit on prefixes. Students have to use their word and prefix knowledge to tell what new words mean.
Included are the prefixes; -un, -dis, -re and -pre
This flap book is for the vocabulary words associated with TEKS 5.9C, changes in the environment. Students can glue the left flap in their interactive notebooks and cut along the dotted lines for writing the definition beneath.
I made this for my ESL students to have a clear idea of how to write three digit numbers in word form. They love the chart format and it helps them see where to write.
This is a great notebook piece, I created it for my students to use in the interactive Notebook as a reminder of the difference between rotate and revolve for the movement of the Earth. They had to draw and define each one.
Glue along the top and cut on the dotted line to form flaps.
Created this for my students to show what they could do with dividing decimals to find individual item prices. You can use it as an exit ticket, interactive notebook page, or partner work. 2 per page for paper conservation

Experience
I have been teaching since 1996. I have been in many grade levels and have seen the changes in Education in those years. I am the teacher others come to when they want ideas and resources. I like to share what I have in the hopes that we will reach our students.
Teaching style
I think children learn best when they can experience things themselves. Hands on activities are important to allowing them the experiences they don't always come to school with.
Awards & shining teacher moments
I have served on various committees in my years of teaching, including campus planning teams, district planning teams, curriculum writing teams, and behavior management teams.
My own education history
I attended the University of North Texas where I earned my degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I have been teaching ever since, most of my experience is with second grade.
