I use this in my Harry Potter 5th Grade Math Unit at the end of the year as a review. However, it can be used as a stand alone lesson for identifying the attributes/characteristics of polygons (specifically quadrilaterals and triangles). This is a fun activity that my students LOVE because it incorporates art. I also usually play the "Herbology" scene in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (found on youtube or bring in your own DVD) to introduce it. 5th Grade Math Standards Covered: 5.G.B
This activity could be used as a station or as a review activity after teaching about categorizing and classifying 2-d shapes based upon specific attributes and characteristics. Game pieces and individual game boards are provided. If you would like to purchase the bundle that includes all five stations ( Base Ten War, Volume Creation, Long Division Station, and Operations With Fractions), you may do so here.
