About the store

Experience

I have taught 13 years — all in 1st grade — and specialize in building strong number sense, fluency, and structured independence in young learners. I create classroom-tested, curriculum-aligned resources that give teachers meaningful data without adding prep time.

Teaching style

I believe first graders thrive with structure, clarity, and consistency. My classroom focuses on: • Explicit instruction • Visual models • Hands-on exploration • Independent accountability I design supplemental resources that provide focused written practice so students can solidify understanding and teachers can track growth. Everything I create is: ✔ Lesson-aligned ✔ Simple to implement ✔ Built for real classrooms ✔ Designed to save time

Awards & shining teacher moments

Over the years, I’ve helped hundreds of first graders build confidence in math through structured routines and clear expectations. My greatest “award” is watching students move from uncertainty to independence — especially when math begins to click. Many of my resources were created after identifying gaps in curriculum programs and developing tools to support both student accountability and teacher data collection.

My own education history

I earned my degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay (UWGB). Since then, I have continued expanding my professional knowledge through ongoing educational courses, workshops, and curriculum-focused professional development — with a strong emphasis on primary math instruction. I currently serve on KUSD’s Math Curriculum Team, where I collaborate with fellow educators to strengthen instructional practices and ensure alignment with district-wide math initiatives.

Additional biographical information

I’m the creator behind Sunshine & Palm Trees — where I design structured, no-prep math supports for busy teachers. When I’m not teaching or creating, I’m refining systems, building new curriculum-aligned tools, and constantly asking: “How can this be clearer? Simpler? More effective?” My goal is to make first-grade math instruction stronger, more streamlined, and data-driven — without overwhelming teachers.
