Welcome to Beach Teach Shop! I'm an educator with over 20 years experience in grades Kindergarten through high school. My current home is in middle school math, where most of my products are focused. I have dual certification in both general education and special education, so most of my products are geared toward providing a solid understanding of a concept before moving on to independent practice. I believe the best way to learn a concepts is to model, analyze and then use in a real-world context.

Pythagorean Spiral Project
Students love practicing the Pythagorean theorem in this hands-on, art-infused activity. Students follow directions to create a 17 triangle Pythagorean spiral. 3D Model Volume and Surface Area Project
Students will use their imagination to create a 3d figure which includes required 2d and 3d shapes. They will then measure, and calculate the area, perimeter, circumference, diameter, surface area and volume of the required shapes. Pythagorean Theorem in the Real World Fencing Project
Students plot given points on a graph to create a polygon outline of a proposed pool fence. Using the Pythagorean theorem, students determine the amount of fencing needed for the perimeter. Just like in the real-world, students then calculate price quotes from two different companies, and decide which company to use for the fencing project. Teaching style
Most of my products are guided notes, which are the starting point for every skill I teach. Accessing prior knowledge, building a base of understanding through modeling, and then a gradual release to independent work has helped me see the most success in my classroom.
