This student-friendly game is both fun and educational! Focusing on numbers five (5) through ten (10), this game can be played individually, in pairs or in larger groups. This reading interest survey is quick and easy to administer and will provide valuable (formative) information on your students' reading interests, habits and how they view themselves as readers.

This is most commonly used at the beginning of the year. The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle is read to the students. Then, this project is used as a formative assessment, to practice counting by 10s and sounding out words. Students can draw a caterpillar to go along with the poem.
