Every year students coming into 2nd grade get confused when writing numbers between 110 and 120 with 1,010 to 1,020. This worksheet gives students the opportunity to practice both the hundreds and thousands place values side by side to help them process the differences and similarities. Students will write numbers in expanded form and standard form with a single opportunity on both pages to also write a number in word form.
Data collection and display sheets for locating 3D solids at home. Students will identify the name of the solid, how many faces, edges, and vertices for each solid, and name examples found at home. Experience
I subbed for 5 years in everything from Pre-K to 6th grade. I taught school for 16 years in grades 2nd-4th. For 3 years, I worked as a Literacy Specialist. Teaching style
I believe students learn best through guided discovery used often in small groups or partnerships where they are able to discuss and question their own understanding. Being able to talk with their peers before sharing their ideas and own understanding gives all students the opportunity to process what they are learning, change perspectives, and grow their understanding and confidence. Every classroom should be a safe place to make mistakes, so that mistakes become normalized and turned into a means to grow and shine.
