Experience

I have worked with students with Autism, Emotional Disabilities, ADHD, and learning disabilities. I am currently the behavior specialist for my school district.

Teaching style

I believe in building relationships with my students. I know that no substantive learning can take place without building positive relationships with our students. I also believe in the importance of giving students voice and choice in the classroom and providing them with the supports that they need to be successful. I believe the most successful teachers are the ones who establish clear routines and procedures in their classrooms but are flexible in times of crisis.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I recently completed a certificate program through Old Dominion University for behavior analysis and am working on obtaining my supervision hours.

My own education history

I received my B.S. in Leisure Studies from Christopher Newport University, Master's in Special Education from Old Dominion University. I also obtained my Educational Specialist degree in Special Education Administration from Regent University. I have a certificate in Yoga and SEL for Teachers from Breathe for Change and recently completed the Behavior Analysis Certificate program at Old Dominion University.
