About the store

Experience

I have over 20 years experience in public education. I have been a math and science teacher, and have also taught special education resource and life skills. I spent two years as an elementary assistant principal and currently work as a behavior specialist.

Teaching style

I believe in teaching smarter, not harder, and stand firm on the belief that teachers should be the expert in the classroom. I think teachers need quick access to quality resources that will make their jobs easier.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was awarded the distinction of "Rookie of the Year" in 2005-2006. This award is given to an educator with teaching experience of 3 years or less, and is nominations are submitted by fellow teachers. I was also awarded "Teacher of the Year" honors for my elementary school in 2013-2014. I have been a mentor to new teachers, as well as mentor leader to those educators that are mentoring a new teacher.

My own education history

I was educated in a small town of less than 25,000, and I choose to continue working in that same district. I graduated in the top ten of my high school class, graduated Cum Laude with my Associate's degree, and then graduated Cum Laude with my Bachelor's degree in elementary education. I received my Master's degree in educational leadership in 2021.

Additional biographical information

My husband and I have been married for 22 years. He is a firefighter/paramedic with Dallas Fire and Rescue. We have two boys...Owen is 20 and Evan is 17. We were also blessed (and surprised) with a little girl, Maggie, who is 9.
