About the store
After receiving my Masters in Clinical Psychology, I became a therapist in a Therapeutic High School for severely mentally ill adolescents. Hungry for more unconventional approaches and a thirst for showing actual compassion, I substitute taught and case managed a STEP Autism High School Classroom for 2 years. It was in this classroom and with these minds that the way I saw the world changed entirely, and I became fully devoted to the Behavior Analysis Route and getting my BCBA.

For our students that are capable of reflecting on their actions and are aware of how they need to behave in order to r

Joy Shows the Bathroom: 'Inside Out' Life Skills

Created by
Behavior Chief
This is a wonderful adapted book that includes bathroom vocabulary and basic life skills concepts (i.e., taking a shower, washing hair and hands). This adapted book is highly interactive, with each page showing the vibrant and colorful 'Joy' from Inside Out to act as a reinforcing character for the bathroom. We have a lot of little friends that find the bathroom aversive, and this book attempts to pair a positive, rewarding, and colorful stimulus (i.e., Joy) with the entire bathroom experience

Additional biographical information

Because I hate the term "wear a lot of hats", I will say this: I have ridden a lot of rodeos. From nearly majoring in Fine Arts to become a tattoo artist, commissioning my own work as a portrait artist, and become a therapist with a concentration in Conduct Disorder and Impulsive Behavior Disorders, you can say my experience is vast, wide, and even a bit random. My approach is unorthodox. I don't realize how loud my own voice is, I make mistakes and quickly own up to them, and I typically ask for forgiveness rather than permission. I have been told I "go rogue" far too often to work in any school or clinic, but it is my maverick-based and EVIDENCE-BASED approaches that have allowed me to step into the beautiful minds of my little friends with autism. I hope you'll join me!
