Guided Reading & Daily 5 Template Schedule
Use this template to create your own guided reading schedule with integrated Daily 5 centers. I run 5 reading groups and 5 switches. My 2nd grade students switch when I ring the bell to the next center. Schedule is put up on the SmartBoard.
I change the headings on the centers to fit what we are working on in class. Also included is a recording chart for Cafe Strategies.

Back to School Letter to Last Year's Class
I send a letter to my students from the previous year at the end of September to remind them that I'm thinking of them and wishing them a great year! I include a class picture at the bottom of the letter too. It can work at many different grade levels!

First Day of School self-portrait
Print for the first day of school! Students write their name and favorite color, then draw a self portrait above! Document student growth from the first day! You can also put all the student work together and create a book!

Star of the Week Template Poster
I send this poster home with my students at the beginning of the year, they fill it out with their families and it is a great "get-to-know-you" activity. I pull them out to share with the Star of the Week. I choose two students every week to be special in September and get through the whole class by the end of the month. Fun & Easy printable! Print all 4 sheet and tape together in a square formation to make a poster!

All About Me class book
All About Me class book and take home note. Students take home two sheets (I copy mine back to back) to complete the first weeks of school together with their families. I put the book together to share with my students. Students then take turns taking the book home to keep one night and enjoy with their family. Great School to Home connections! All 4 sheets included!

Selfie Bus
Have students take their own "selfie" the first week of school, color their bus and put their picture in the driver's seat! We read Froggy Goes to School and talk about being in the driver's seat and in control of what we do at school: body basics! Great way to start the beginning of school and rule review!
I use their sheets to make a bus bulletin board!

Experience
I have taught for 20 years in lower elementary grades including 9 years in 5K and 7 years in Second Grade and 6 years Looping to 3rd grade! I also have been involved in Professional development workshops and teaching Teachers; staff trainings involving technology.
Teaching style
I have an integrated style of teaching---I think that is the best way to describe it! My classroom runs with Balanced Literacy, Daily 5, CAFE strategies, guided reading centers...everything is revolving around technology while maintaining a structured student lead environment. We recently adopted a new Math program-Math expression and use traveling Science kits to support our Literacy goals.

-Nominated 15 years in a row for the Golden Apple Award.
-Twice received grant money for Technology Service Projects-integrating SmartBoards in the classroom & technology integration project for wireless mice.

Additional biographical information
I enjoy being outside and soak up every minute of the "good" weather when we have it in Wisconsin! I'm an avid swimmer, love zumba classes, read like a fiend, and cook up a storm. To relax, I love gardening and take pride in my herbs. I love my job and my "school family", they are a close second to my own family and friends! Looping 2nd/3rd the last 6 years has expanded my professionalism immensely! I'm also a breast cancer survivor and take each day with a cup half full attitude, I am blessed! :)
