Student will learn why acceleration creates strong forces and how to counter these forces. They will employ this knowledge to design and build safety features for their passenger on a small standard cart that will be released down a ramp into a wall. Using the free accelerometer app Physics Toolbox Sensor Suite, students will measure the G-forces acting on their smartphone 'passenger' (use a cheap old phone with the app downloaded) as it repeatedly experiences the same car crash repeatedly.
