Using these writing goals your students can choose the areas of writing they need to work on. Simply hang the writing goals and allow students to put a sticky note with their name near their current target. These goals include finger spaces, sight words spelled correctly, and many other goals. Sentence example including kindergarten can be easily tailored to the appropriate grade.

These posters can be used when students finish early to help them plan their next steps. They can be displayed as a resource and reminder for their continued writing. This can help with classroom management so you can continue meeting with students who need you.

Here is a rubric students can use to self-assess their writing as they begin to develop their work. You can have them compare original to final copy and put first and last rubric next to each other to show growth. They can also use this if they finish their work early. This rubric can also be used to peer assess and discuss opportunities for future growth.
