Use this activity with your Calculus class to bring solids of revolution to life! You just need to purchase a few fruits/vegetables (zucchini, squash, pear, eggplant, etc) and students will use graph paper and their calculator to create a function. Borrow a large beaker from a science friend, and students can use volume by displacement to check their results! You will also need 1/4 inch graph paper.
Use this worksheet to introduce higher-powered polynomials! Terminology includes: maximum, minimums, increasing, decreasing and multiplicity. Includes steps for finding maximum and minimum using the TI-84.
