Common Denominator Classroom Community Activity
This activity goes well with a unit on fractions and finding a common denominator. Students are each given a fraction card. Then they walk around the room to find a pair of common denominators with the fractions that their classmates have. They also have to find a common denominator, or a similarity, that they share with each classmate. It builds on classroom community while also staying relevant to a fraction unit.

Experience

Teaching style
The best way I would describe my teaching style is that I am firm, but flexible. My students understand that our classroom is an environment where they feel safe and have the right to receive the best education possible. Each students' needs are being met and I take each student into account when planning my lessons and assessments. I am very focused on differentiating all my materials when applicable and making writing an approachable process for all students.
Students know me as, "The teacher who loves the beach" because every year my classroom theme is nautical. I grew up going to the beach every summer, and I wanted to incorporate that love of the water and all things nautical into my classroom. I also believe it creates a serene and relaxing environment for my students.
