Search resources

Students use a still camera to take still pictures of an object, move the object, and shoot another picture. Process continues until students have several hundred photos. They then use video editing software (iMovie or Windows Movie Maker) to put the pictures together and play them at a high rate of speed to simulate motion. Rubric includes links to examples that are posted on YouTube.

Students take an inanimate object and give it a voice and a personality. Project is broken into 3 parts; the write-up, the audio file and the video project. Experience

14+ years teaching public education, 10 of those have been with gifted learners. I have been teaching middle school students since 2001.

Teaching style

I prefer to give students an opportunity to do hands on projects and to produce projects both individually and in groups. My classroom style is more of a manager while the students explore and learn on their own.

Selected as teacher of the year 2 times by two different schools. I have won over $30,000 in grants in the past 5 years.

BS Degree in Biology from the University of Central Florida National Board Certified Teacher in Middle Grades Science 300+ hours in Gifted Endorsement classes completed in 2005

In addition to my time in the classroom, I am frequently called upon to teach workshops in my district, am the county resource teacher for our newly adopted textbook, and have been asked to author content for a variety of science books and websites.
