Students learn about the global treasure hunt called Geocaching in the intro PowerPoint. The project has them build and hide caches on campus, and log their coordinates using several GPS devices that I have gathered through the years (I started with only 1 the first year).
The culmination of the project is to have each class period search for caches hidden by a different class period.

Experience
14+ years teaching public education, 10 of those have been with gifted learners. I have been teaching middle school students since 2001.
Teaching style
I prefer to give students an opportunity to do hands on projects and to produce projects both individually and in groups. My classroom style is more of a manager while the students explore and learn on their own.
