My passion lies in creating universally-designed, inquiry-based science curriculum that meets the needs of gifted and talented, on grade level, and high needs learners. I center my curriculum around engaging real-world topics and familiar phenomena to provide access points and promote an equitable learning environment. I seek to cultivate a growth mindset in my students and provide multiple opportunities to receive feedback and correct work for additional credit on formative assessments. Recently, I've been developing performance-based summative assessments that are incorporated throughout units of study. The purpose of these performance tasks is to drive learning and allow students to demonstrate their knowledge and content mastery outside of traditional testing. I've also been exploring how to assess the three-dimensional aspect of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) in traditional multiple-choice and short answer assessments.
