About the store
I have been a high school biology teacher for 34 years! In that time, I have used drawing as a tool to understand concepts. I have also enjoyed making coloring pages and using other coloring books for Biology and Anatomy. Students often say that they can't draw, but find that they begin to do better at it with practice. I have also taught Health and Anatomy and Physiology.

Graphs and Tables: Organizing and Interpreting Data

Created by

The NGSS standards require that students understand data in charts and graphs. This worksheet gives students some much needed practice on making and interpreting 3 different kinds of graphs and tables: line, bar and pie. I use this in my Biology classes, but it could be used in math and other science classes too. Student sample is included.

You can have your students complete this word doc at home with the textbook you have given them while they are doing distance learning, or as a homework assignment if they are able to be in the classroom right now. It can be used in google classroom and be assigned that way. Make sure they know how to insert a symbol into the doc.

This back-to-School activity can be done the first or second day to open up students minds about the subject they are going to learn about. There are a few questions that will require them to either use the computer or their phones in order to answer. If you don't allow phone usage or have computers available, they can take it home as homework.

The Eclipse on August 21st, 2017 gives us some excellent graphs and charts to study, giving us real-world data to interpret. The CAISO agency provided data on the day of the eclipse that shows a dip in solar energy MWs during the eclipse. They also provide lots of graphs and charts each day to show how renewables try to meet the demand for electricity. Questions about the data provided in graphs and a chart are challenging and make the students think. An answer key is provided. Hope this me

What is Math? First Day Activity for Distance Learning

This word doc is a remake of my previous What is Math worksheet. This one was adapted for use in Google Classroom so that the teacher can assign it, and the student writes the answers and imports images on the doc. It would be important to make sure students know how to import an image. It would work for any math class, such as Algebra, Geometry, General math, etc.

About the store

Experience

I have been a high school biology teacher for 34 years! In that time, I have used drawing as a tool to understand concepts. I have also enjoyed making coloring pages and using other coloring books for Biology and Anatomy. Students often say that they can't draw, but find that they begin to do better at it with practice. I have also taught Health and Anatomy and Physiology.

Teaching style

I do some lecture, lots of activities and labs and try to involve the students as much as possible in their learning. We use a cornell note type note format with lots of room for drawings and diagrams.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was lucky to be chosen to be a mentor teacher a few years ago. I loved mentoring new teachers, and still do.

My own education history

I have a BS in Biology and a Masters degree in Public Health. My teaching credential is a single subject in Biology.

Additional biographical information

I am a mother of three- two of whom are teachers. My kids always knew that it was the best job in the world. I loved that I could be home in time to be there for my two growing boys, and daughter while they played all of their sports and enjoyed all of their activities. I still think it is the best job in the world.
