Blaine Baker

I am definitely a hybrid of teaching styles. In my class, I like using old school lecture styles to introduce new concept, but after content has been provided, I love introducing students to debates, discussions, simulations, games, and various other ways to increase active, enjoyable engagement with content. Overall, I like to make history "come to life" for my students.

I received a B.A in History and Secondary Education with a minor in Religious studies at LSU and became the LSU Chapter President of the National Council of the Social Studies.

I am just a teacher who was once a student in the classroom of a very engaging, funny, and brilliant Bible and American History teacher. I had this teacher for 2 years for two separate classes, which inspired me to pick up teaching! I studied social studies, religion, and education at Louisiana State University; the whole time I promised myself that I would always strive to be as engaging, memorable, and challenging as my favorite teacher was for me. With the phenomenal training I received at LSU, my wonderful mentor teachers I met along the way, the NCSS club of which I became president, and the constant dedication to a dream, I grew into my own teacher; I became the history teacher that kids love.
